Tania is a qualified Oncology Massage Therapist, having studied with Oncology Massage Global under Kate Butler. She is deeply committed to providing this care, recognising the physical and emotional toll cancer treatments can have. Her approach is gentle, mindful, and grounded in evidence-based practice, aiming to reduce symptoms such as pain, fatigue, anxiety, and nausea, while helping clients reconnect with a sense of comfort, calm, and wellbeing.
Oncology massage is a highly specialised field that adapts massage techniques to safely and effectively support people undergoing cancer treatment or living with a history of cancer. It is tailored to be safe, comforting, and supportive, taking into account the effects of surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and ongoing fatigue. Unlike traditional massage, oncology massage uses modified techniques, pressure, and positioning to ensure comfort and avoid interfering with medical devices, scar tissue, or sensitive areas.
The benefits of oncology massage can be both physical and emotional. Many clients report a reduction in pain, anxiety, nausea, and fatigue. It can help improve sleep, ease muscle tension, and promote a deep sense of relaxation and wellbeing during what can be a physically and emotionally challenging time. While not a cure, oncology massage plays a valuable complementary role in holistic cancer care, offering a safe space for rest, connection, and support. All sessions are adapted to each person’s condition, needs, and preferences, and are delivered with compassion and clinical awareness.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required, but you’re welcome to speak with your medical team. I’m happy to work collaboratively if needed, especially in complex cases.
What should I expect in a session?
Each session is tailored to how you’re feeling on the day. We’ll begin with a consultation, and treatments are always gentle, respectful, and adapted to your needs.
How long does a session last?
Most sessions run 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your energy levels. Shorter options are always available — your comfort comes first.
When can I have oncology massage?
Any time. During active treatment, recovery, long-term survivorship, or palliative care — sessions are always adjusted to your situation.
When should I avoid it?
Massage may be postponed if you have a fever, an active infection, or are feeling very unwell. We’ll always assess and decide together to ensure your safety and comfort.
Do you offer end-of-life massage?
Yes. I provide gentle, in-home oncology massage for those receiving palliative or end-of-life care. These sessions focus on comfort, calm, and presence.
